I’ve created a Carrd for chronosian in my own time, but I want to put a Tumblr post for the terms I have coined on it, so there is another place for them.
- Chronosian: The umbrella term for all terms on this umbrella. Can be used on its own.
- Chronoless, Achro: A chronosian person who is mentally ageless.
- Plurachro: Someone who is chronosian due to being plural.
- Altechro: Someone who is chronosian due to being alterhuman (ex: otherkin, otherhearted.)
- Jeuchro, Smalichro: Someone who is mentally younger than they are bodily. (Example: Someone who is 19, but is traumastuck and still feels as though they’re 12). Comes from the French word for “young.”
- Viechro, Oldechro: Someone who is mentally older than they are bodily. (Example: Someone who’s bodily 19, but is an alter in a system who’s 30). Comes from the French word for “old.”

What is Chronosian?
“Chronosian is an umbrella term for those whose mental/perceived and physical ages do not line up. Common reasons for this might be being a system member with a different mental age, or being traumastuck (being unable to move on from a traumatic event.)
Chronosian is also sometimes called “chrono-peculiar.” It was created as a separate term from labels like transage and altage, because many people are uncomfortable using this kind of language for various reasons. Some chronosian people may use altage subterms if a chronosian subterm does not exist yet, but they are ultimately separate labels and communities.
Chronosian is not associated with, nor does it support, pedophilia/”MAPs”, regardless of age incongruence. When it comes to attraction and dating, body age comes first. Those who do not follow this principle are not to use this term whatsoever.”
Questions about Chronosian
“Isn’t this supporting pedophilia?
No. Regardless of ones mental age, your body age is what determines who you should date or be attracted to. Chronosian is 100% not supportive of pedophilia or “MAPs.”
Why are some people chronosian?
Some reasons may include those who are traumastuck (are unable to mentally move past a certain time period because of trauma), system members who are a different age from the body, and various other reasons, such as being alterhuman.
Why does this exist when we have altage / transage already?
Not everybody feels comfortable using those labels for a myriad of reasons. You can use chronosian, you can use altage, but they are not the same community and you should decide on one based on your personal comfort.
And mind you, saying “we shouldn’t have all these separate terms for the same thing :(” is silly. Words do not abide simply by what you think we need. Do you think there aren’t different communities for similar concepts everywhere else? If so, I guess we don’t need “mspec” with various different separate communities, such as bi, pan, and omni, because “they’re already so similar to each other”! I guess we don’t need a distinction or separate communities for those who identify with genderqueer instead of nonbinary anymore, because they’re just so similar already!
No. Absolutely not. While those kinds of terms are similar, they are separate from each other, and making them synonymous is hurtful to both parties. Doing the same thing to my term is harmful to those of us that want our own community and language, and is harmful to altage and transage people who do not associate with chronosian. It is not some attack against another community, it is simply creating our own.
Understand that labels, and whether they’re “needed”, is not the sole reason why things exist. Consider that people’s comfort is more important than your mild annoyance.
What is “perceived age”?
It is alternative to “mental age”, because some people do not like using that kind of language.”
