Quoivir was coined by Tumblr user the-gender-collector-emself on October 5, 2020.

Quoivir is described as “Someone who may be male or male-aligned but feels that gender identity and/or existing gender terms don’t quite apply to them.
Someone whose relationship with malehood is complicated; someone who isn’t sure whether they experience malehood or what malehood means for them.
Can be used as an alternative to “questioning”, in order to communicate exhaustion or frustration with searching for a better male-related gender identity term for oneself.
Someone who is male or male-aligned and doesn’t care much for gender as a concept.”
