Müllerian is an alternative to the term “biological female” and refers to the phenotypic sex traits of a person who has ovaries and was not exposed primarily to testosterone in the womb. This term is best described as what society views as “common women” or “most women” however some transgendermen and non-binary people are müllerian.
The capacity for ovogenesis/the ability to give birth (PWIB), unless if sterile.
Has estrogen as one’s natural primary sex hormone.
Generally has breasts as a secondary sexual characteristic.
Müllerian is not synonymous with AFAB, as some AFAB people are intersex, and do not have all of the traits listed. Müllerian could be described as “dyadic female”.
Context: The term originally referred to individuals whose fetal development favored the Müllerian ducts, which leads to the creation of a vagina. This definition has become more strict with the recoining of the term, as you can see above.
