Definition / Possible symptoms:

1. Individuals with EID experience a complete reversal of emotional responses to typical stimuli.

2. For example, they may feel happy in response to tragic events or sad in response to joyful events.

3. The emotional responses are extreme and not appropriate to the situation.

4. Individuals with EID have difficulty understanding and relating to others because they don’t feel emotions in the same way.

5. They may also have trouble regulating their own emotions, leading to outbursts or emotional breakdowns.

6. EID can interfere with personal and professional relationships, and can lead to social isolation and difficulty functioning in daily life.
