FAG FLAG 🏵️ 🧨

Okay so basically I’ve wanted to make this for a really long time, but didn’t know where to start. Since any discussion surrounding the slur ‘fag’ is inextricable from discussions about ‘dyke’ I felt that the best approach would be to directly mirror my dyke flag design. 

black – power, strength, and freedom that comes with reclaiming ‘fag.’ also representative of any and all black mlm and black nonbinary achilleans who identify as fags, as they have always been the backbone of this community.

red – the history of ‘fag’ as a violent slur, then being transformed into a more positive identifier that many of us reclaim.

orange – strength in numbers, solidarity, and a sense of community, all fiercely dedicated to protecting vulnerable LGBTQ+ people from harm.

yellow – unapologetic love and support for LGBTQ+ men, regardless of attraction to men or lack thereof.

white (carnations; typically green) – became a queer symbol in 1892 (thanks to Oscar Wilde). wearing a green carnation on your lapel was a secret, subtle hint that you were a man who loved other men (since ‘fag’ is a slur most commonly associated with / used against mlm).
