radqueer community i would like to suggest european paper wasps for our mascot
reasons:
– they look just like a yellowjacket, which means they get a lot of hate, even though they’re actually chill (their difference is they have yellow antennae, not black like yellowjackets)
– they’ll defend their nest if attacked, but if you don’t bother them they can nest in a high traffic pathway and still don’t care about you
– they’re really good for the environment, even though they get lumped in with “all wasps yuckygross”
– you hurt one and their body lets out a pheromone that says “danger fight danger”
– small nests (only a couple hundred wasps max)
– i love them :]
and that fits with us. antis wanna call us predators even though we’re just chilling, rq as an ideology is anti-harrassment but we’ll defend ourselves if attacked, we’re good for the environment (/j but we are a super safe community, at least in my experience, aside for when antis are awful at us), you go after one of us and the whole community knows you are now a danger, and we’re a relatively small community
