• The Inverted Scales

this symbol was posted by the deactivated tumblr user gashmasc. the scales represent justice, law, and morality. when they’re balanced it signifies judicious and moral equilibrium; in contrast, when they’re unbalanced, the scales represent injustice, amorality and inequality.

in their proposed symbol for ASPD, the scales are balanced, but also inverted; which intends to highlight the inclination of those with the disorder. this presents our entirely different philosophies about justice, law and morality to the world around us. note again that the scales are not unbalanced. this is not a symbol for injustice, and it is not to be used as a pejorative. it is, instead, a symbol for a moral code that doesn’t comply with current social norms – which is a key hallmark of antisocial personality disorder.
