Potential term coining for the aspec and neuro/persodivergent communities:
Fascine interest
Fascine interest is an alternative term to “attraction” for people who are repulsed by the concept of attraction or feel like it doesn’t fit their experiences. It describes an interest or fascination with someone that is separate from the concepts of romantic, sexual, platonic or other tretiary attraction. Fascine interest can make you want to learn more about someone and often fades or disappears after getting close enough to the object of interest.
People who experience fascine interest might have very short relationships, lose interest in friends and partners soon after getting close, or have identified with grayattractional or frayattractional identities.
Someone you are in a companionship with based on fascine interest can be called a fascimate.
While anyone at all can use the term, fascine interest was specifically coined for the anattractional spectrum, neuro/persodivergent, and anyone else who feels uncomfortable with the word or concept of attraction.
Fascine interest can mimick, lead to or mix with attraction and it is up to the individual to decide how they want to label their feelings. It is intentionally broad, vague and subjective.
