Okay, so, I’m confused. I thought winterpunk/winterqueer/whatever the fuck it’s called, was bigoted towards light skinned non-white people, but now people are saying it’s not? Last time I checked, its description was like, “Only supporting people who were visibly not white,” or was I mistaken? Also, this knee jerk disgust y’all have for white people for just being white isn’t cool. It’s just bigotry dressed up as progression. Y’all are not slick.

As far as I was aware, winterpunk/queer was just a way of being proud of having light skin? Especially for those who are transwhite or translightskinned and feel guilty about it, as well as a way to push back against racial guilt/feeling guilty for being white in general (since it’s morally neutral to be white).
I think the original coiner intended it to be specifically people who were poc-to-white and such, but may have simply worded it badly. I don’t think it was based on looks.
From what I can tell, it was 100% about having pride in being light-skinned, and included transwhite and translightskinned people. But look at the def, it says it was specifically intended for white and light-skinned people in general, both cis and trans, not just poc-to-white.
