ALTERNATIVE 🐾 FLAG

Originally posted for the Fediverse Flag Project. While it didn’t place first, I’ve decided to post it here as an alternative. The flag aims to create a more naturalistic feel as opposed to the brighter colors of the 2016 flag. Gender is also avoided as it tends to exclude a lot of folkel.

TOP STRIPE (MOSSY GREEN): Animals that reside primarily on the land. This usually includes mammals such as canines, felines, rodents, and ungulates, but can also include reptiles and insects. The green is meant to represent the grass and the trees.

SECOND TOP STRIPE (DARK TEAL): Animals that reside primarily in the water, such as oceans and lakes. This usually includes fish and cetaceans, but can also include certain rodents such as beavers and capybara, which are semi-aquatic. The blue is meant to represent the soft blue light of a body of water.

THIRD TOP STRIPE (SOFT YELLOW): Animals that reside primarily in air. This usually includes birds and some insects (moths and butterflies mainly), but can also represent certain flying rodents such as bats and sugar gliders. The yellow is meant to represent the sun.

MIDDLE STRIPE (WHITE): Unity within the zoo community and alliance with other paraphiles. One of the main reasons an alternative zoo flag was proposed, due to the ZETA movement having a controversial history with other paraphilic communities. The white stripe aims to reflect the old flag whilst distancing itself away from ZETA.

FIRST LOWER STRIPE (SATURATED LAVENDER): The sexual attraction to animals. This stripe represents those in the zoo community who are primarily or exclusively sexually attracted to animals. However, this stripe can also represent those with non-exclusive sexual attraction.

SECOND LOWER STRIPE (DARK PINK): The romantic attraction to animals. This stripe represents those in the zoo community who are primarily or exclusively romantically attracted to animals. However, this stripe can also represent those with non-exclusive sexual attraction.

THIRD LOWER STRIPE (PURPLE): Any other kind of attraction to animals. This stripe represents those in the zoo community with aesthetic, platonic, sensual, or any kind of unconventional attraction to animals. This flag can also represent fictozoos.

SYMBOL (ZETA / ζ): The Greek letter Zeta has been used in the zoo community for a long time, even before the movement. I felt as if I wanted to keep it to reflect on our alliance as a community. However, it’s in a different font to somewhat separate it from the movement.
