hypochondriacalpinko’s ‘Anti’s Response to TransNazi’ Discussion

hypochondriacalpinko:

Sometimes (very rarely) I wonder if antis are right and I’m actually just a cisnazi hiding behind my label. And then I try to put myself in the mindset of a cisnazi, and I immediately go “Ew, all of that is wrong and stupid, why would this actually be anyone’s valid opinion”. And I realized, I couldn’t be a cisnazi if antis, or even I wanted me to be one. It just isn’t how people’s brains work. They have an opinion that they can’t control, and insisting that they have a different one because of a label they hold just..means you’re wrong.

I think that’s what’s so important about transhateful identities. People against them tell us to just “be the thing”, and that’s not how psychology works. That’s the reason for transhateful identities. We can’t hate something if we’re physically convinced we don’t have a good reason to. But we can feel strongly compelled to believe that we should hate something, while acknowledging the reality that there’s no good reason to. That’s the main reason people go through the trouble of using “transnazi” or “transracist”. Because they just can’t hold those beliefs contrary to reality and morals.
