Context:
The hypodermis is where skin fat is stored as well as connective tissue and larger blood vessels. This layer appears bubbly and yellow from the fat tissue, giving its cut nickname ‘beans‘. “Doing beans” means hitting that layer when causing injury.
“Bedrock” seems to refer to tissues that are deeper than fascia, which likely means that “hitting bedrock” refers to “hitting bone” when causing injury. “Laffy Taffy” seems to refer to muscle, so “doing laffy taffy” means cutting through muscle when causing injury.
The subreddit r/MadeOfStyrofoam also has a post about alternate words people use for self-harm and injury. I will include some of that here for reference.
- Epidermis: Scratches
- Dermis: Styro [Styrofoam]
- Dermis: Scratches
- Fat: Beans
- Muscle: Forbidden Laffy Taffy
- Veins: Crimson Tunnels
