QAI Acronym Flag (idolki)

“QAI

An alternative acronym to MOGAI (marginalized orientations, gender alignments, and intersex). QAI (pronounced kai, but can also be pronounced kwai, or by letter) means “queer (and) adjacent identities.

This acronym is inclusive of anyone who believes it fits. it is also inherently inclusive of those who use subtlidens [‘contradictory’ identities].

Here’s a rentry that goes into more detail about identities that could possibly fall under this acronym. flag meaning under the cut.

This acronym was voted on through two different surveys. Feel free to use the other acronyms provided in the surveys, However please do not officially coin them nor make flags for them. I can’t stop you, but this is to minimize divide and confusion. As well, please credit me if you use them.

The flag meanings were somewhat inspired by the gilbert baker pride flag, a flag i hold very dear to me.

white stripes: hospitality, peace, finding peace

grey block: respect, inclusion; as well as tolerance of those with identities you don’t understand

pink: nurturing, community; fostering your community

lavender: queer history, spirit

red: passion (not inherently of a romantic kind; intended to be passion about one’s identity, passion about creating, etcetera), enthusiasm, life

orange: warmth, happiness

yellow: optimism, creativity, joy

green: growth, healing, not letting oppression nor discrimination define you

light blue: freedom, peace, serenity

darker blue: kindness, promoting kindness

Here’s also an alternative flag, with a dove. at the time of making this flag i wasnt aware it was tied with christianity (or i might have been but simply forgotten as i struggle with amnesia). do be aware this was made by a non-christian , if that bothers you.

the dove represents freedom (more specifically, freedom of identity), destroying binaries, breaking free from the rules that bind queer folk, and resilience.”

Context:

Proposed Acronyms (from the second survey):

INGAI: individuals (with) non-normative genders, attractions, and identities. pronounced how it’s spelled (in – gai).

QIWAI: queer individuals with atypical identities. pronounced as key – why.

CCI: community coined identities. pronounced by sounding out the letters (see – see – eye).

IAGOI: intersex, attractions, genders, (and) other identities. pronounced ee – uh – goy.

INGAI: individuals (with) nonconformist genders, attractions, and identities. pronounced how it’s spelled (in – gai). a response to critique that non-normative felt othering.

QIWAI: queer individuals with authentic identities. pronounced as key – why. a response to critique that atypical felt othering, suggested by a mutual in law.

QCCI: queer community coined identities. pronounced by sounding out the letters (que – see – see – eye). response to multiple different critiques about the specificity of the term.

IOGAI: intersex, other genders, attractions, and identities. pronounced as ee – oh – gai. a response to the suggestion of changing IAGOI to IOGAI.

QAI: queer (and) adjacent identities. pronounced kai. a new acronym in response to multiple critiques.

There were also only 50 responses to this survey (the survey is now closed as of writing this, so I’m commenting on the survey responses that were recorded). Also QAI has been somewhat controversial, with the main criticisms being that it feels somewhat like ‘Queer (And Aligned)’ and queer+ could be a better descriptive term for that.
