AltID is meant to be a discourse neutral alternative to transID for anyone who might feel uncomfortable with the trans- prefix, community surrounding it, or wants a label for their identity that doesn’t have a focus on transition.

It’s called altID because it’s an identity that’s alternative to what society views you as.
