“Nimaver

Nimaver describes an alterhumanity which is involuntary, uncontrollable, and identified as. nimaver was made as an alternative to otherkin, as it is often confused with KFF (kin for fun). It is not meant to divide the community or be “better;” it is simply there to offer an alternative. it may be caused by anything, and can be psychological, spiritual, behavioral, cultural, physical, etc.

Text from the Rentry:
“nimaver
nimaver is a mashing of the words “anima,” meaning soul, and “veritas,” meaning truth. it is pronounced knee-muh-verr.
what is nimaver?
nimaver describes an alterhumanity which is involuntary, uncontrollable, and identified as. nimaver was made as an alternative to otherkin, as it is often confused with KFF (kin for fun). It is not meant to divide the community or be “better;” it is simply there to offer an alternative. it may be caused by anything, and can be psychological, spiritual, behavioral, cultural, physical, etc.
nimaver is…
- involuntary: one does not choose to be this thing, they just are this thing.
- uncontrollable: one cannot control the intensity or identification of their nimaver.
- identified as, not with: one’s veritype is who one is, not someone/something one relates to.
- versatile: past these base rules, everyone’s experience is different. some folks with veritypes may experience phantom limbs or sensations, while others may not. some folks with veritypes may experience atypical dysphoria/euphoria, while others may not. veritypes can be fictional, factual, and of anything in between or beyond. one can have one veritype, or multiple veritypes.
identity notes if you connect with other parts of nimaver, but your identity is voluntary, otherlink might be a better fit. it you connect with other parts of nimaver, but you simply relate to something, or have a connection to it, rather than being that thing, otherhearted or synpath might be a better fit.
terminology
veritype — the nimaver equivalent to kintype; e.g. “i am a wolf veritype, i have a wolf veritype”
verishift — the nimaver equivalent to a kinshift.
fictionver — the nimaver equivalent to fictionkin.
plantver — the nimaver equivalent to plantkin.
objectver — the nimaver equivalent to objectkin.
animalver/speciesver — the nimaver equivalent to animalkin/specieskin.
concever/conceptver — the nimaver equivalent to conceptkin.
songver — the nimaver equivalent to songkin.
veriject — someone who is both an introject and a nimaver.
verkin/otherver — someone who is both nimaver and otherkin, or uses the terms interchangeably for themselves.
terminology notes nimaver is both an adjective and a noun. you can say “i’m nimaver” or “i’m a nimaver.” it’s all personal preference! the plural of nimaver is still just nimaver. “nimavers” is incorrect. there’s no verb version of nimaver; do not try and coin any, please.
flag meaning
- first/top stripe: confidence, kindness, learning (as in, learning about the identities of others, learning about your community, etc)
- second stripe: community, respect, looking out for each other
- third stripe: psychological and spontaneous alterhumanity
- fourth/middle stripe: self love , self acceptance , finding one’s true self
- fifth stripe: spirituality, past lives
- sixth stripe: the spectrum of nimaver and alterhuman identities
- seventh/bottom stripe: fun, happiness, peace
- symbol: two shapes combined into one.
the ruffled shape is loosely based on the camellia flower; while often representing romantic love for another, it has other meanings, as well. the camellia in this instance represents perserverance, as well as longevity.
the pointed shape behind the ruffled shape is loosely based on the amaryllis flower, representing pride, strength, determination, and beauty.
Notes
While nimaver is involuntary and uncontrollable, you are still held responsible for your own actions. please be careful not to be culturally appropriative. do not promote parasocial relationships and behavior, or commit any form of bigotry. nimaver is not an excuse for any kind of reckless or harmful behavior, and being nimaver doesn’t mean you get a free pass to break others’ boundaries or be discriminatory.
although this is not universal amongst all nimaver people, most will likely not want to be referred to as separate entities to their veritype— because they are the same entity. (it’s best to just ask, though. remember to respect everybody!)
