“Since I haven’t found a term that I find fits me, I have decided to coin one! I haven’t coined terms before so I hope this makes enough sense to people ^^;
Also I tried to use inclusive terms and if I need to change any descriptor due to incorrect use of preexisting terms or exclusion of other alterhumans (such as holotheres/physical alter/nonhumans, spiritual alter/nonhumans, past lives, etc.) then please tell me and I will fix it to the best of my ability.I also hope none of the new terms overlap with preexisting ones oops
Othervari
(From otherkin/hearted/etc + variant)
More specific terms can be used as well and fit under the Othervari umbrella; for example “Fictionvari”, “Theriovari”, “Conceptvari”
Othervari is an alterhuman identity that is for alterhumans that deeply connect or relate to any thing; animal, creature, concept, place, character, etc. without seeing themselves entirely as the thing in this life or this point in time, instead as a variant or version of the thing.
Othervari could describe an alterhuman who sees themself as a version of the thing, but put in the body they have now instead of the “original” thing. How similar they are to the “original” may vary, but it is never exactly the same.
For example, an otherkin may say “I am that thing”, while an othervari may say “I am a variant/version of that thing”.
For my experience, I believe one of my fictiontypes may be fictionvari.
With this character, let’s say A, I see many similarities between me and the canon character. I see myself as I am in this life as a sort of version of A. A is the main reason I considered coining this term in the first place.
Othervari isn’t quite like otherhearted, where you identify with a thing, because it instead is deeply relating to the thing and believing that in some way you easily could be it, but for any reason are not.
Othervari isn’t like having a synpath, where you strongly identify with a thing or feel an empathetic connection to a thing, but it is fairly similar.
Othervari isn’t AUkin/hearted, where you identify as/with a character but your “canon” is from an AU, because being othervari is feeling like you are a unique version of the character not within an existing AU.
Similar terms may include otherkin/hearted, synpath, and AUkin/hearted.
Please note that I made this term over a few days, so some parts may be slightly inconsistent or unrelated. Please ask if you have any questions! i kinda want to make a flag for this later on but idk how i’d make it oops”
