About Online HetGNC Spaces
Last Update: 7/18/25
* Please note that this page will be continually updated. If you are viewing it through a reblog, it’s possible you are viewing an outdated version.(Temporary note: Hi! I’m creating a FAQ/terminology/context guide masterpost right now, and need to post separate pages for each term and concept so that I can link them in said masterpost. This is the page about our community’s online presence. Note that I’m brief about the history and the FAQ looks a bit sparse; more information is on the way in the form of additional pages, in order to keep the content light/easy to read. You’ll probably begin to see more and more of these pages trickle in. Notably, not in order of importance but in the order that I finish them.
Please let me know if I missed anyone in my list of HetGNC blogs (I feel like I’m forgetting somebody??) or if you would like to replace the info blurb next to your name with your own words instead of mine or if you want me to adjust it in any way!)
History
Much of the proto-organization of this community occurred on Reddit. As the community developed, however, more complex needs arose, and have since been met better on Tumblr.
FAQ
This post and this post answer questions you may have about that, such as “What caused the migration to Tumblr?”, “What are the criticisms of the subreddits?”, and “What is the purpose of a community on Tumblr, when similar subreddits already exist?”
Encyclopedia
- TUMBLR
Here is a list of Tumblr blogs dedicated to posting HetGNC content.
I will try to update this list as more blogs are created, but please let me know if I miss any, or if anyone wants to be taken off of this list for any reason.@viragoposting
Dedicated to the virago label and related conversations, with an additional emphasis on examining the community through the lens of feminism.@hollycantkeeptrackofthedaze
A HetGNC blog with an emphasis on feminine men and intersectionality between the HetGNC community and the transgender community.@cadybear420
Cady’s main blog, which doubles as a virago/HetGNC blog. Participates at length in community discussions, and also posts about her fanwriting of HetGNC relationships/characters for the Choices: SYP fandom.@virago-sensuality
Dedicated specifically to the NSFW side of the virago experience.@viscasi
This is me! My blog is dedicated to the HetGNC community in general and to raising awareness about allinity identity, with a slight emphasis on the intramasc virago experience specifically.
Bearing in mind that our community here on Tumblr has criticisms of the spaces on Reddit (see above: FAQ), at the very least that they’re lacking in some way, I’ve included a list of them below for reference.
the two main, largest, most active subreddits:
r/RoleReversal
This is the subreddit where most other HetGNC-related subreddits stemmed from. It focuses on– broadly– relationship dynamics or people who defy expected gender roles in some way.
r/GNCStraight
This subreddit is similar to r/RoleReversal, but with an emphasis on the identity of the person involved being gender nonconforming in some way.a few smaller, less active subreddits:
r/MascGal_X_FemGuy
Dedicated to (mostly manga art of) relationships between masculine-presenting women and feminine-presenting men.
r/genderqueerstraight
Similar to r/GNCStraight, but with more of an emphasis on the genderqueer experience.
r/MasculineOfCenter
More broadly GNC rather than HetGNC specifically. Dedicated to people who consider themselves more masculine than feminine. Not active anymore, but worth noting as somewhat of a predecessor in thought to the concept of intramasculinity.
r/mascgirl
More broadly GNC rather than HetGNC specifically. For “tomboys, masculine girls, androgynous individuals, and enbies.”
