“Disorganized Train of Thought Disorder (DTTD)

Definition:

A mental illness in which one has persistent disorganized thoughts which often result in obsessive intrusive thoughts of any subject, but with little or no compulsions. People with DTTD may also experience extremely vivid hypnagogic hallucinations, and have a hard time differentiating dreams from reality. DTTD may also cause speech impairment as it makes forming thoughts difficult, some people with DTTD may stutter, have verbal shutdowns, or need/use AAC.
DTTD also causes bursts of paranoia, usually when the pwDTTD is alone at night. The pwDTTD may have uncontrollable thoughts of a gas leak, even if their house uses no gas. They may have vivid intrusive thoughts of dying in multiple ways to the point it hinders their ability to sleep or function.

Causes:

• Chemical Imabalance
• Genetics
• Certain traumas
• DTTD also may come co-morbid with psychotic spectrum disorders, such as STPD or DD.
