Copy of Post on CritInclus Discussion

This piece of writing is copied and pasted from an archived Tumblr post, with some minor editing done by me for readability. Again I did not originally write this.

Critical inclusionists are transphobes

because they are against the principle of self-identification except when it involves the realm of gender. They are against most types of transidentities, only accepting of the transgender ones. The only thing that separates them from gender criticals and TERFs [trans-exclusionary-radical-feminists] is that they (due to a matter of cognitive dissonance) don’t apply the same terrific reasoning used against transid people on transgender people. The fact that they don’t *yet* do it should still worry everyone, I’ll explain it more in detail in a ulterior post.

Critinclus spread and normalize TERF rhetoric

When we look at the arguments used to justify their opposition to transid people and the concept of transidentity, these same arguments could be perfectly applied to transgender people and the concept of transgender-identity: “you can’t identify as being 30 years old because you’re biologically 15” is the same bio-essentialist argument as “you can’t identify as a woman because you’re biologically male”; “you call yourself transage as an excuse to do predatory things” sounds like “transgender women call themselves women as a way to do predatory things in female-only spaces.”

The function, structure, and logic of arguments made by critical inclusionists against transid people are the same as those made by terfs and gender criticals against transgender people.

As such, critical inclusionists spread, enable and promote transphobic/TERF reasonings. that’s ofc [of course] dangerous as they’re basically cultivating a terrain receptive to terfist and gender critical ideas and radicalization: the only thing it would take for these critinclus to become full blown GCs/TERFs would be to transpose the same reasonings they use against transid people on transgender people; after all, both concepts (transid and transgender) work the same way, arguments that invalidate one also invalidate the other.

At one point, when confronted enough, they’ll have to reconcile their own internal inconsistencies and make a decision: either they support the logic of transidentification and thus they are pro [or supportive of] all transidentities, or they oppose the very concept and logic of it.

And looking at current state of things, I’m afraid they’ll take the latter path (at one point they’ll probably start to gatekeep what it means to be transgender by making transmedicalist arguments, but it will not suffice; moreover becoming transmedicalist will put them on a weird dynamic given the current context of things, so there is the risk that they’ll go down a GC/TERF pipeline – from critinclus to transmed to GC/TERF – and they’ll probably continue to go deeper in the pipeline with paraphilias and youth liberation).

Critinclus use eliminationist and fascistic rhetorics

accompanied with their TERF-like arguments, I think every radqueer has already seen how hateful, dehumanizing and eliminationist their rhetoric against transid people often is. Critical inclusionists have an issue with our very existence. They advocate for hate, violence or our disappearance in the name of protection or anti-degeneracy, just like fucking TERFs and other transphobic reactionaries. Imagine the reactions to these same anti-transid rhetorics if they were deployed against transgender people instead: they would be called fascists.

Don’t call critical inclusionists just “antis” or “exclusionists” as it trivializes their eliminationist and TERF rhetorics:

  • these two terms being too vague cover up the gravity of what they’re spreading and normalizing :  TERFic and eliminationist rhetorics.
  • they miss the point of describing the underlying bigoted logic and motives that drives their opposition of transid people and transidentities

More impactful and accurate words should be used instead. They are transphobes, they are a hate group; they spread, trivialize and promote TERF/gender critical and bio-essentialist reasonings in MOGAI spaces and they are victim blamers in favor of maintaining systems of oppression in lieu of dismantling them.

Instead of attacking anti transid sentiment in society that is often weaponized against transgender people, they say that our existence as transid people is the actual problem, a threat to transgender people, not the anti transid sentiment around us that creates the hostility which is then used to attack transgender people. Not only this is a very stupid way to proceed and victim blaming, but it’s also an assimilationist mentality.

Critical inclusionism is dangerous for the queer community

Critical inclusionists are a danger from within the MOGAI community because they spread TERF rhetoric. But more generally, this anti-transid mentality that most queer people held represents a larger threat to the trans movement. if transid debates become mainstream while this anti-transid, transphobic mentality is prevalent in queer spaces, it will be used by GC/TERFs to radicalize these people into transmedicalism and eventually GCism/TERFism.

It will create a dangerous atmosphere and empower the anti-LGBT backlash and right wingers. So look at critinclus or any person that held their same mentality as a threat. They either change their anti-transid bigotry or they’ll continue to represent a anti-trans, anti-LGBTQ menace. (generally transphobia also leads to homophobia and other types of queerphobias, so they’re a danger to everyone in the queer community)

If you’re a critinclus that is willing to listen and change your anti-transid biases, join the radqueer community. Call out transphobia against transid people when you see it. Don’t let transphobia be normalized because it creates a dynamic that puts everyone in danger in the community.
