The Androgynous and Neutral Allinities

(Temporary note: Hi! I’m creating a FAQ/terminology/context guide masterpost right now, and need to post separate pages for each term and concept so that I can link them in said masterpost. This is the page about the current dialog surrounding propagating language and understanding for the androgynous and neutral allinity identities. Some parts of the page may look a bit sparse; more information is on the way in the form of additional pages, in order to keep the content light/easy to read. You’ll probably begin to see more and more of these pages trickle in. Notably, not in order of importance but in the order that I finish them.)

Preface

The majority of the existing discussion around allinity identity in this community has been focused on intramasculine and intrafeminine. But, admittedly, the language and discussion around androgynous and neutral allinities is currently lacking… they do not yet even have names.

So, this page will serve as a record and hub for the discussions that take place about the androgynous and neutral allinities, until a more official guide can be made.

Suggestions/brainstorming to coin names for these allinities are welcome! Feel free to comment/repost this page or send me an ask.

What’s The Difference?

An “androgynous” allinity seems to imply some level of “bothness” or a “mixture” of intramasculinity/intrafemininity, rather than something neutral, or even a nonexistent allinity identity. Thus, the experiences require separate terms.

Androgynous Allinity Identity

If we were to follow the etymological pattern of the other two established allinity labels (intramasculine and intrafeminine), we would be left with “intrandrogynous,” which most of us seem to agree is too clunky to be a realistic contender for the androgynous allinity’s name. Additionally, shortening it to “intrandro” would etymologically imply masculinity (from the root word “andro”), which also wouldn’t work if we’re aiming to name neutrality.
